The LEGACY

 When you hear the word 𝕃𝔼𝔾𝔸ℂ𝕐, How does it sound in your ear? What do you remember? Who do you remember? or, are you just viewing it (𝕃𝔼𝔾𝔸ℂ𝕐) as just a common word people use daily? Well, irrespective of your angle of view, you're not wrong.

The word legacy is defined as "𝘴𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘴𝘮𝘪𝘵𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘣𝘺 𝘰𝘳 𝘳𝘦𝘤𝘦𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘥 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘢𝘯 𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘰𝘳 𝘰𝘳 𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘥𝘦𝘤𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘰𝘳 𝘰𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘱𝘢𝘴𝘵"_ Merriam-Webster Inc.

From that definition, it can be deduced that legacy can be anything "good or bad" we left behind.

Therefore, asking yourself whether you are leaving a legacy or not won't be the right question rather, you should ask yourself “am I pleased with the legacy I am leaving?".

When thinking about legacy, I remember the former governor of Akwa Ibom state His Excellency Godswill Akpabio

In 2007 when he was about to assume the number one seat of the state, all discussion turned to what legacy he will leave behind because of the landmark achievement of his predecessor.

In 2015 when he was about to leave office, people were wondering how his final decision before leaving office will impact the historical landmark legacy he built.

He skillfully manages and protects his legacy and became a respected and celebrated king among his people and beyond even after years of leaving office.

He is pleased by the legacy he left behind that is why he could talk about it boldly anytime the opportunity arises.

Remember, 𝖂𝖊 𝖑𝖎𝖛𝖊 𝖙𝖔 𝖑𝖊𝖆𝖛𝖊.
Our name will be forgotten, our appearance will not be called to mind again but, the legacy we left behind is what will keep our name after we leave the stage.

When you leave where you are working now, what colour do you leave for people to paint you? will you be placed?

Build your legacy on honesty.
Build a legacy you will be pleased with.
Don't build what people want you to but what you want to.
