𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐅𝐀𝐑𝐌𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐅𝐄𝐒𝐓

It was a farming fest.

Such that has never occurred in the history of the kingdom nor has it ever been held anywhere. 

The Chief gathered all his kinsmen and inform them about the unusual fest called the "farming fest" that he planned to celebrate his 98 years reign in the kingdom and 142 years birthday.

The clue wasn't disclosed to anyone.

The Chief is the most honest and faithful the kingdom has ever had.

The town crier was summoned an announcement was made concerning the coming fest.

The day of the feast arrived and everyone was already sited in the king's Palace.

To their greatest surprise, the Chief had hired chefs, drummers, and entertainers from different communities because he wanted all the villagers to participate in the festival except those of his household.

The venue was well decorated.
The road leading to the palace was decorated as well. Guests and royal dignitaries were all sited and entertained with food, drinks, and a cultural display.

The Chief came out to welcome everyone and thank them for honouring his invitation.

"Let the fest begin for it will last for 3 days". said the King

The first day was strictly for entertainment and everyone was well feed and satisfied.

Thereafter, an announcement was made by the Chief spokesman "all villagers, irrespective of your status in the community please come out tomorrow with your farming tools for the real farming fest to begin tomorrow".

They were stunned and worried about why should such an announcement be made.

The next morning, nearly everyone went out with their tools except a few who didn't have them.

They thought it will be another phase of entertainment and merriment as was on day one but they were told to go and cut down the village forest which has stayed for over a hundred years without being cultivated.

Some started murmuring and sitting back to be entertained since going to the forest wasn't by force.

Many went to the forest but few were serious and cleared very large acres of land.

Some cleared small portions and feel tired.
Some were just playing and discussing under the forest shade.
Some were complaining about how difficult it is to navigate through such a forest.
While some didn't see the fun to take part in clearing such a thick forest as a festival.

The forest was cleared with few efforts so they all went back to the king with the report and measurements of what they did.

The king thanks them all and entertain them equally.

The final day of the farming fest came.

The king announced "Thank you, everyone, for your united effort for the forest has been cleared and at last, we all have farmland to cultivate our crops and as such,  the land has been shared according to what an individual labour and effort yesterday. Those that stayed behind to be entertained, those that went to the forest but didn't see the need to work, and those that were complaining how hard it is to work had no share of the farmland".
